Common Questions
I've read the program, how do I now get certified?
Once you have read the program and feel you are quite familiar with
the material, you contact our office 1-866-970-7999. We locate a
proctor to administer the final exam in your area. This proctor
may be a library, a college or a university. The final examination
is then sent to the proctor. Once the student completes the examination,
the proctor returns the examination to the Matrix Educational Systems,
Inc. for grading in a return envelope provided.
What if I live in Florida and am applying for licensure in Florida?
In the case of a Florida student, they must test at a Division of
Licensing Regional Office, Florida licensed recovery instructor,
and or school, or public college or university. Please refer to
our State of Florida Licensing page
for further instructions.
Who schedules the day and time of testing?
The day and time of testing is worked out between the student and
the proctor. It is required that the examination be completed within
21 days from the date mailed from our office. Tests held more than
21 days at the proctor's location are required to be returned to
our office.
Do I ever have to pay for testing?
In most instances, no. We do our best to use a library for proctoring,
as they do not charge for this service. Colleges and Universities
sometimes collect a small fee. All such financial arrangements will
be between the student and the proctor in those cases.
How many questions must I answer correctly, and what if I don't
pass?
The student must answer 80% of the test questions correctly in order
to pass and obtain certification. In the standard program test,
there are 100 questions. In the Florida and California tests, there
are 125 questions.
Anyone not passing the test may re-test at any time. A $35.00 re-testing
fee will be required in these cases.
What do I receive to show I am certified, and do I get any type
of designation?
You will receive an 8.5" x 11" certification of completion and also
a wallet size, laminated card to carry. The letter designation of
C.A.R.S.® (Certified Asset Recovery Specialist®) is permitted
to be used then on business and advertising material. Your name,
company name, location and phone number will also be listed on our
web site at no charge.
Can other agents within my office use the same program material?
While more than one person may use another's program material, each
individual requesting certification will be required to pay in full
for a program. Much like attending college, the tuition only applies
to one student.
How will lenders know I am certified? And how can they find
me?
It was at the request of some of the nations largest credit unions
that we first determined a need for an agent
locator as found on our site. Lenders across the country
look to our site for names of certified agents in their area. The
Matrix Educational Systems, Inc. offers each agent completing the
program, a free listing on our website for such lenders available
use.
Once certified, it is to the agents benefit to meet with their
clients and show them what the program consists of in order to further
enhance their image to their clients as professionals. As with any
training, the more qualified you strive to become, the more
qualified you will become.
What about insurance credits?
Some insurance carriers will offer credits towards your yearly premium
for completion of our program. Again, it is suggested you meet with
your insurance agent and show them this course of study. Ask if
they recognize any type of training or risk management programs.
Feel free to get them in contact with our office to discuss the
benefits of having such a program in place.
