Joe's career spans 5 years in law enforcement, 7 years
in the lending industry and 30 years in the collateral recovery
industry. He has been involved as a collateral recovery specialist
or supervisor in over 20,000 repossession assignments of automobiles,
commercial trucks, watercraft, heavy equipment, etc. and is still
active in the field.
He is one of the original founders of the Florida
Association of Licensed Recovery Agents and has served in every
board position of that association. Currently a member of Time Finance
Adjusters, Joe also served on the board of directors of the American
Recovery Association and has since passed that membership to his
son, Brian who is President of Chekmate International, Inc.
In 1989, Joe was appointed by Florida Secretary of
State Jim Smith, to serve on the Florida Department of State Security
Council where he assisted in re-writing the regulations for collateral
recovery and chaired the committee that developed the state mandated
40 hour training program for recovery agent trainees. In 1994 this
curriculum was adopted by the State of Florida for their required
training.
Joe holds the honor of being the first licensed recovery
instructor in Florida, having the first Recovery School in Florida
as well as the first licensed Recovery Agent in Florida.
Joe is a licensed Fire and Casualty insurance agent
and is the founder and co-owner of Indemnity Concepts, Inc., which
specializes in insurance coverages for Collateral Recovery Agents,
Private Investigators and Private Security.
Joe is the founder and co-director of the Professional
Training Group, Inc. The Group was formed for the purpose of developing
training seminars for lending institutions and to develop a nationwide,
comprehensive certification program for the collateral recovery
industry.
In 1999, Joe, with the help of his wife Elizabeth,
completed and published the first ever National
Training and Certification program for the collateral recovery
industry.
In 2001, Joe founded the Florida Alliance of Certified
Asset Recovery Specialists as a model for a national alliance of
certified professionals in the collateral recovery industry.
Additional memberships include the National Association
of Security and Investigative Regulators.
